Bowyer family of Leek

I am searching for information on Solomon Bowyer born 1761 in Leek, son of Joshua and Martha. He married Elizabeth (date unknown, her surname not known) and had some children in Macclesfield, Cheshire. I am quite sure he is the father of my ancestor William Bowyer born 1791 in Sutton, Macclesfield. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family?

There is a Will for a Solomon Bowyer who was a shopkeeper in Macclesfield and died in 1825 on the Cheshire Records online

There may be details of the children listed in the Will.

He is also listed in this book of A history of Macclesfield 1817 as a baker and flour dealer in Mill Street Macclesfield.

There is also an entry on the IGI for a Solomon Bowyer born on the 29th November 1761 at Presbury Stafford
Father Joshua Bowyer and mother Martha Bennett.  This has been submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church

There is also a marriage for Joshua Bowyer and Martha Bennett on the 17th November 1753 at Leek Staffordshire again submitted by a LDS member.


I cannot find a Presbury for Staffordshire, although there is a Prestbury near Macclesfield Cheshire however this does not match up with him being born in Leek.

Thank you for your reply. I have the will for Solomon, it gives a few details about the family, I suppose I am hoping someone out there might be related and have a lot more than I do.

I too have seen those confusing IGI entries. There is one that is not user submitted and shows Solomon born in Leek to Joshua and Martha, it looks as though some people had their places confused, Prestbury is clearly in Cheshire! I really need to see original parish registers, but can't from here in Australia.

What a shame the Will did not throw more light on his children. 

When I am next in Stafford Records Office I will have a look for the Leek entry.  Will not be in the near future though but someone may be going before me and find it for you.

Thank you so much for trying to help, it would be great to confirm from an original source than rely on the somewhat unreliable IGI! If you could check it I would be most grateful. I wonder if Solomon may have married in Leek? I can't find any record for him anywhere. It would have been before 1787 as that is the year his first(?) child Sarah was born in Macclesfield.

Ive just started searching and im getting muddled with the Bowyer family.
My Great Grandmother was Eliza Ann Bowyer, born Eastleigh, Cheshire.
Father Alfred I believe born 1850, Nantwich.
Then I think it goes;

William ? (1790 - 1860)
then?
