St. Agnes
« on: Thursday 11 November 10 08:42 GMT (UK) »
Trying to figure out where the Parish Church of At. Agnes is?  Can anyone help?  I have googled it and came up with two St. Agnes's.  One--St. Agnes, Isles  of Scilly and one by Truro? May seem like a stupid question, but could there be two parish church's called St. Agnes in Cornwall?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sheri

Hi Sheri and welcome to RootsChat

I don't think there's any limit to the number of parishes with the same name, whatever county they are in.  They would be identified by the town name as well as the church name.

If you would like to post what you have, we can try and identify the right one for you   :D

All I have is a Baptism Record (copy from The Genealogist) and it just says
"Parish-   St. Agnes".  I think that they may have lived in a place called Skinners Bottom?

I live in Pennsylvania, US and not familiar with the districts and parishes--I am working on it though.

Looking for Willoughby's and Buzza's.

Thank you. Sheri :)

Probably this one:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/Cornwall/StAgnes/index.html
Which is often called "St. Agnes near Truro"

And there are certainly both Willoughbys and Buzzas there on the IGI, and Willoughbys living there at Skinners Bottom:

Hi sls,

Skinners Bottom is just outside Redruth in Cornwall, not far from St. Agnes which is on the coast.

I used to live a mile or so from Skinners Bottom.

I would suggest Googling Skinners Bottom Cornwall and a map comes up and you can see how far it is from St Agnes

Is Skinner's Bottom  a village or town?  I found it on a map, but not any pictures of it.  Cornwall is  so beautiful!

Thank you so much for your response!
