Bernard’s birth is long before the statutory records for birth began (1864). To have any chance of tracing his birth in Ireland you need more information. Ideally you need to know his religion, parish and townland in Ireland. You may be able to get that from Scottish census records (check every census), obits and wills, or Poor Law applications (kept in the Mitchell Library, Glasgow). If he died or married in Scotland the relevant certificates will have his parents names which will help.

Few Irish records exist prior to 1800 and even around 1821 they are very patchy, especially for RC, which he seems likely to have been. There may be no record of him for you to find.

Yes,that is the same bernard i got,and that was why I was trying to find out on different boards to see,where he acually came from or acually went to,as to find out if he was the start of the Mulvey`s in glasgow,I also came across
 Mary Mulvey showed up in 1841

 she had a daughter betty age around 7 yrs old i think she was born in england

and a duaghter named Margaret aged about 1 1/2 yrs old born in scotland

and i was trying to see if there was a connection between them all here in scotland.........thank you

can't find him in the 1851 Scotland or England Census.

Have found one in New Jersey Census - could explain why he moved round lots too.

there is Bernard Mulvery also in the 1861, 1871 and 1881 but the birth dates vary so much.

I reckon these could be John's parents and if not they are related to you somehow as the names and occupations all fit going by the info you pm'd me
