John Read Nightingale
« on: Saturday 13 November 10 23:16 GMT (UK) »
I have found a marriage for a John Read Nightingale to a Jane Young on the IGI The marriage was on the 27th January 1828 in Kent. Sorry I do not know which town in Kent.

This could possibly be my 3x Gt Grandfather who is possibly marrying for the second time. John was a sailor and I have been looking for information about him for ten years with little sucess. Does anyone know if there would be more details of the marriage on the actual record. Many thanks

Hi

It may well show that he was a widower but apart from witnesses names I doubt you will get much else

He will just be shown as "full age" and fathers names were only included from 1.7.1837

If you look at the marriage on the Record Search Pilot section of Familysearch there is a film number (1836194).  If you then look at the library catalogue http://www.familysearch.org for that film number it says parish registers of St Mary Dover.  It might be a marriage or banns.

Thank you so much for that information. I had absolutely no idea that I could find the church with that film number. That narrows it down a bit for me.

Much appreciated :)
