Query about Berkshire burials for 2... Thomas Leeke COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 16 November 10 20:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I would like to know if it is worth my while ordering the Berkshire Burials Register through my local LDS family centre to see if the records I've found for Thomas Leeke of Berkshire (d:1715...son of Thomas) and Thomas Leeke of Berkshire (d: 1778) contain any more info than just that, a name and a date. Would this microfilm from LDS have any more information on it than what is presented on familysearch.com?  If possible, could anyone who has access to this register please advise me about how to find out where in Berkshire these people were buried as I’m not familiar with the form used in Berkshire burials of the past. I realize that such records might vary according to clergyman, church, period, etc.

Would an 18yr old who died in 1715 have had their parent's name mentioned on their burial record?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have a copy of the Berks Burial Index and I do find it very useful. I don't think it will have any less info than what is contained in the original registers.

It contains the following;
Chieveley, St.Mary the Virgin.
20-3-1715-6 Thomas LEEK son of Thomas
10-11-1765   Thomas LEEK - (nothing more is added)
11-4-1778 Thomas LEEK - (nothing more is added )

As these burials are listed under Chieveley, St Mary the Virgin,  they would have been buried in the church graveyard.

Hope this helps.

Alan

Hi Alan
That really helps - just having the location of Chievely attached to those records. Thank you very much.
