Frederick Thomas Stone

I am trying to trace relatives of my great great grandfather, Frederick Thomas Stone, born 1829, somewhere in England. He was married to an Irish girl called Mary Anne Hunter, who came from County Caven. They had 4 children - William James, John Thomas, Edward Arthur and my great grandfather Frederick George who was born in 1859 and was a blacksmith by trade. I dont know Frederick Georges wifes name, but they moved to South Africa where they had 6 children. Does anyone have any info on Frederick Thomas Stone's parents? I seem to remember being told they hailed from Yorkshire, but I may be mistaken. Or any info on Mary Anne Hunter from County Caven? Regards, Nicky

Have you found the family on censuses, to narrow down his place of birth?

Nope - I cant get to the census info without giving them my credit card number! Do you have any suggestions regarding a website I should sign up to if Im going to do this properly? There are so many that I could sign up to, all requiring payment of one form or the other, and if Im going to do this, I want to join a reputable group.

According to www.familysearch.org submitted record Sarah Thompson married Frederick George Stone.

Where was he born? Where did year of birth come from?

If you check the link for the thread on Ireland-General board you'll see information that's already been found and posted.
Frederick George Stone was supposed to be born in South Africa but other information suggests parents not married until 1875

Hey, maybe my relations were a tad risque back in their day and they didnt get married until after having kids? Although I do doubt that - I am guessing she must be a second wife.
