Everard Family
« on: Tuesday 23 November 10 22:15 GMT (UK) »

I have traced back and verified records as far as my gt gt gt grandfather George Everard born abt 1839 in Hartley Westpall.

However, once I reach the 1851 census things get confusing;  A George Everard of abt the same birth date and place appears on two separate census's for 1851 with two different families. one is with parents called Joseph and Ann the other with parents called George and Mary Ann.

I am not sure where I can go from here.  I would be grateful if anyonce could offer any pointers please.

Your George was shown as b 1839 Hartley Westpall and was with parents Joseph & Ann in Hartley W in 1851

The other was b 1840 Hartley W and was living in Oxfordshire

Do you have a copy of your George's marriage cert showing his fathers name

If you check freebmd - you will find 2 separate birth registrations in Basingstoke - 1839 and 1840

yes he must be George, son of Joseph and Anne.

What documentary evidence do you have to confirm that?  Without confirmation - you could end up researching the wrong person
