Sargeants Mess Alexandria WW2
« on: Wednesday 24 November 10 19:38 GMT (UK) »
Just to give you advance warning.  I have  a group photo  of     the men and women  of Sargeants mess at Alexandria   some time between 1942 and 1945,   It is currently being scanned for me.    If any of your relatives were there, please come back tomorrow to see if you can recognise anyone.   There  are about ten young ladies in the photo  in uniform, It would be interesting to know whether they were Nurses  or secretaries.

Help please with showing you the photo.    I have got a  DVD  disc with five copies of the photo on it.   I have tried to   download to this  site one of the photos, but the size  is greater than 500MB.  What is the best method for me  to  re-size it please?

I had to crop it slightly  to be able to reduce the KB  to less than 500.

I think it may have been a Wedding  photo.   The Sarge  in the centre  is probably the Groom.

Here is the  description from the back of it:

12th November 1944         RASC/EFI  and ATS/EFI  personnel  who attended the reception  on the occasion of the wedding between  Sgt Spencer (RASC)    and SGT Radway (ATS).      Some civilian  guests can be seen on the verandah in the background.

On the Bridegrooms right is Captain Bolam (best man)   and on the brides left  is her ATS/EFI   bridesmaid and next to her is Lt Eva  (who gave the bride away)
