RN Medal Awards WW1 - Abbreviations
« on: Wednesday 24 November 10 22:56 GMT (UK) »
I have the entries for 2 Gt Uncles and would appreciate some help with them.

CRUDDACE Reuben, AB, 217105, St, V, B, "Erin"
217105, CRUDDACE R, Medal No. 3434, AB (written above in smaller capitals is CK), RN, 7.2.22, R/ARF Nocc HSNL

I think this means he was awarded the trio while serving aboard HMS Erin on 7 Feb 1922, but what does the CK mean above his rank? And can anyone explain the final bit after the date? The entry wasn't clear and Nocc could well be wrong.

READSHAW Jas. S, ERA3, M 6901, St, V, B, W/T Stn Bathurst
M 6901, READSHAW JS, Medal No. 8332, ERA1, 19.2.29, Scythe Gm
Also a Long Service Good Conduct Award
Claim No. 43980, READSHAW James Sydney, ERA1, M 6901, Scythe 20.2.29

What does W/T Stn Bathurst mean and what does Gm mean after HMS Scythe?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Colin

Thanks for the link to the pic, it looks very strange to my novice eyes. More like a pleasure cruiser  ::)

I don't know about a cook but he was a very good engineer in civvy life and carried on working part-time into his 80's - and he used his push-bike for transport  :o :)

Thanks for the input Ady  :)
