Hi CraftyP,

The Mr Green I mentioned was not family, as far as I know, but he was the business partner of my grandfather who was a builder. Mr Green was the money man as I understand it. I've been trying to remember the name of the pub for weeks and Sandy's mention of the New Inn turned the little light on. I'm just curious to know a little more about him. I am afraid I don't remember hearing his first name but their company was called Berrill and Green based in Chequers Lane (just at the bottom of Cannon Street).

I do have two Wellingborough Greens on the edge of my tree, John born c1701 and his daughter Elizabeth born 1737. Any possible connection?

HeatherLynne's idea sounds good but I have people born or living in these Yards when they would still have been in use as coaching inns so it probably doesn't completely answer the question...

Sorry, no idea of the gentleman in question- on the subject of yards, our Tebbutt connection is in earls barton, and in recent years there are Tebbutts yard and Clarke close, lots of families crammed into any available housing in the not too distant past
Sandy, we will bump into each other one day as I followed up the Kingsley a while ago! just after you

PalmTree1 the furthest back I have gone is William Green baptised in 1727 and his father was John a plaisterer (as spelt ).  John, I believe, married a Hester Wooding 1726 but I haven't checked for certain as to whether the John who married Hester is the one, although I feel pretty certain they are the parents of William.

I will settle for the fact that the Nags head was on the right hand side of Broad Green and there was most probably a lane leading by the side of it with property behind it,  no doubt crammed, and sometime in the future enquire as I said before either at the library or Record centre.

Lovely to hear so many people interested in this !!

Morning All.  :)

Paul and Marton the reason I asked about Bob was he was a
teacher also at a Wellingborough School.

He is related to the Coles of Wellingborough and comes into my
lineage through the said name and many others.

Marton I am not sure why you want to bump into me, as you
put it, you would re-bound quite a way.  :) :) :)
Since my op I have put on even more weight.  :(

Ask CraftyP as she met me in Northampton Library the other week.

I tried to find the building the Nags head in the 1871 Census
after Paul saying it was more than likely near Broad Green.

Therefore a name would have maybe made it possible to find.

Anyway I will leave it to you all to carry on as I received
a beautiful gift of a J Lawson Advent Calendar from another
Rootschatter "Penholder) and need to play it again.  :)

Sandy
