Balemartin, Tiree
« on: Friday 26 November 10 17:15 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks
Just wondered if anyone had heard of a residence called "Sunnyside" in Balemartin, Tiree?  2 of my relatives, brothers, both listed it as their residence in the 1940s,50s.  They were both in the merchant navy, I dont know if that has anything to do with it as I have no record of any other reason they would be living there as they were born in Darlington although their father was Scottish he was from Glasgow.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Aileen

The Isle of Tiree website has a contact point for enquiries, which is fortuitously located in Balemartine. You could e-mail them and ask.

Or you could ring the local Post Office 01879 220301. I am sure the postman would know.

thanks elwyn, the post office! I would never have thought of that!
Incidentally after I posted this I tried again on Google which I thought I had done already, and searching on google maps got a match!  So presuming this house hasnt changed its name since then I think its still there.
Still no idea why they were there but its a start!
Thanks for your reply.
