I am looking for the birth record of my 7 x great Grandfather John Cock who in June of 1702 in Roche, Cornwall married a Dorcas Watts, he was born around 1680, if anyone can help me I would be very grateful thank you very much.

Kind Regards

How strange I have been looking into my mothers family tree Langmaid and we have  a John Cock who was a Police Officer and married Phillipa Crapp on 2nd January 1872 in St Andrews Church Plymouth and had some six children. Have that feeling that there must be a connection somewhere!
Allard/Allwood/Alwood/ From Suffolk
Wright/Croftwright/ From London
Langmaid/ from Lanteglos By Fowey

It is very possible there is a connection but I have not really delved to deeply into the Cock family as yet.

Hello Bethan,

There appears to be at least SIX John Cock baptized between 1670 and 1685 in the Cornwall area.

My own search has lead me to an Alice Cock who married Thomas Oates/Oats/Otes (not too sure which), in about 1659 St. Just in Penwith, Cornwall.

I have found the Cornwall Online Parish Clerks website very helpful.

Hope it can help you.   Wendy :)
