STEVENS of Grandborough

Hello everyone, i have restarted researching my tree after great disappointment in 2009 when i discovered three close branches of my tree would never be know to me!

Onward and upward though.

I found royalty in my family but i won't believe it just yet!  So i need your super minds.

Dorcas Stevens (1610-1641) is meant to have married my relation Joesph Dancer (1610-1641)

Dorcas was born 18 Nov 1610  Quainton, Buckinghamshire, England

Joesph Dancer was born13 Nov 1610  Risborough, Buckinghamshire, , England

Dorcas Stevens is meant to be the daughter of Nicholas STEVENS B: 24 Apr 1563  Grandborough, Warwickshire, , England  D:1610  England.

This line of Stevens leads back into supposedly royalty but i can't find how people (other family trees on Ancestry.com.uk) have linked Dorcas and Joesph Dancer.

Ancestry trees can be notoriously unreliable.Stevens is a common name & easy to hammer in if you want it to.
I read somewhere that today there are 10,000 people in the UK who can trace their lineage back to William the Conquerer.That figure reduces drastically as you progress through history if it's true.
I would think that somewhere already you would have found a titled ancestor that would lead to a royal line,if you haven't I would be extremely sceptical about what you've found.
My advise would be to start with the last known fact & work back from there using your own research or getting others on here to help you achieve that.
Alternatively you could contact one of the tree owners & ask them where their information came from but don't be surprised if they tell you they got it from someone else who got it from someone else etc. etc.

Yeah thats why i don't trust this royal link, it doesn't match my family at all! 

So just thought i would post and see if anyone has any ideas on how to sleuth out this marriage.

I am concerned that someone has identified the wrong Grandborough.  The location of all the other family members in Buckinghamshire would make the Grandborough in the same area of Buckinghamshire much more likely. 

I have marriages into my family of Stevens(Stephens) in that area in the early 18th century.

There is also one in Cheddington, Bucks, 20 Sept 1562, No Father noted.

These Births are in Cheddington to a Nicholas;
THOMAS 1594
BARNARD 16 July 1597
ELIZABETH 16 October 1600

So there is more than one Nicholas around in Bucks 1560-1600

The only Death I can find for a Nicholas Stevens around 1610 is;
Burial 25 January 1610, Borden, Kent

Now are you descended from MATH Dancer (Mathew I presume) Son of Joseph Dancer Christened 25 July 1641, Monks Risborough, Bucks?
There seems to be are SARAH 1648 also born to a Joseph.

It is pretty hard to search backwards without knowing a bit about those born later!
