PROV has digitised administration papers for

David Keddie, died 5 May 1882, intestate, probate granted 17 Jun 1882
Farmer of Buangor
Administration granted to Margaret Wilson Keddie.

The inventory shows that his estate was worth 120 pound which was owed to him by Thomas Moorfort (Moorford?), farmer, of Moyston.

http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/indexes/index_search_results.asp

There is also a digitised record of the will of Hugh GORDON of Goomalling WA, died 3 June 1917.  Probate granted in WA.  Executors of this will were his sons named as:
Hugh GORDON, farmer of Willaura, Vic
James GORDON, stock and station agent, Willaura, Victoria
Alexander GORDON, farmer, of Quairaiding, WA

Others mentioned in the Will - daughters
Christina GORDON -violin and violin music and 800pounds
Sarah GORDON - organ and organ musi and 800 pounds.
The three sons are to share the rest.

So, no mention of Margaret.  The will was made in August 1916.

There is also a will for Daniel Watson COUPER of Ararat, formerly of Alexandria NSW
Died 6 Aug 1899
Probate granted 18 Sep 1899
Occupation Gentleman

He leaves all to Horace KITCHENER of Ararat, formerly of Alexandria NSW, (and 50 pounds to his housekeeper).  His estate was valued at some 2000pounds and included property in Ararat plus the procedds of the sale of a hotel in Ararat.

Judith

The mother of Margaret and Daniel is a Janet Mc Intosh

But can`t find her on the IGI for 1803 Edinborough

May be here mother was called a Watson as for Daniel`s middle name.

Wilson for Margaret`s as she was named after her paternal grandmother.

Hi Jamison
James William Birch was the youngest son of Joseph Edward Birch and Jessie Christina Keddie and was lost on 'HMAS Sydney' in 1941.
The older children were Margaret May born 8 June 1906, married to Len Smethurst, Jessie Elizabeth born 14 July 1908 married to John Lightfoot, Florence Martha born 25 September 1910 married to Eric Thorne, Joseph Keddie born 1912 married to Laura Barnes, Nellie Christina born 1914 married to Jack Glossop.
Margaret Wilson Taylor (nee Couper) was a widow when she married David Keddie on 21 June 1879 but he died on 5 May 1882 when Jessie was only 14 months old.
This David Keddie named his parents as Thomas Keddie and Christina Brown  and Margaret's parents were William Couper and Janet de Tuloch on the marriage certificate (#331) at which time he was 45. The death certificate (#56 - 4574) says he was 49 then and had been in Victoria for 25 years. So his birth year was 1833 and his immigration date would have been around 1857? I'm still searching!
regards
Sam

Hello Sam

It great to hear from someone in Australia connected to him somehow.

It is known that David went to Australia.

It has been effort to track him down but the Australia Board Chatters have provided a lot of info. on him.
