Margaret Browne
« on: Friday 03 December 10 11:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Please will you help to give clarity, I am tracing my family and a John Hambley (Cornwall St Mabyn) married a Margaret Browne(?) in Bristol, St James Parish on 18th Nov 1821. They had 6 children whilst in Bristol then moved to Bedwelty and appeared on the 1841 census but no Margaret so I do not know if she moved there or passed away in Bristol. She was certainly alive in Bristol in 1835/6 re her son Alfred (Harford as it was shown). Bristol have the marriage certificate but it does not show Margarets age, where born and most important her parents. Family Search seems spartan of info, with my lack of experience I am lost. It is as though the family was hiding.

Please can you help with a direction I can take to progress my search as I feel there is a story here.

Regards

Found a birth for a Margaret Brown, its very easy for a <e> to be omitted.

Margaret Brown baptised 6th January 1799
St Nicholas Bristol.
Father's name Richard Brown.
Mother's name Elizabeth.

Not sure undrneath was another marriage in 1814 for Margaret.

Will continue to look.

Good luck

R,

You'll find a death of a Margaret Brown registered in 1838 at Bristol - see freebmd at http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl but she might not be . . . .

Looking at these entries, Margaret may have died in childbirth. ( Abergavenny is the correct registration district for Bedwellty.)

Births Jun 1839
HAMBLEY   Mathew
Abergavenny 26 55

Deaths Jun 1839

HAMBLEY   Margaret
Abergavenny 26 35
HAMBLEY   Mathew
Abergavenny 26 39

The death cert would give her age at death, and the name/address of the informant.
