Lookup request - Massachusetts
« on: Friday 03 December 10 16:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to trace the descendants of James Goosney, born Dec. 24, 1884 in Bay Roberts or Coley's Point, Newfoundland, father Isaac.  He was settled in the Boston area by 1920, working as a seaman out of ships in that area.

Would someone be able to please do a lookup on him - census or other records?  Our branch of the family lost track of him when he moved away, not sure if he married or not.  He may have died in the 1930s, but again not sure.  I am sure of his birthdate.

Warning - I think there is another James Goosney in the Boston area at that time, born in Bonne Bay around 1880, two children Ralph and John C.  This is not my man.

Thanks,

Jennifer.

Many thanks Sandra for the quick responses.  The Boatswain on the Josephine McQuestin looks like him - guess he doesn't have any descendants if he was still single at age 47!  Oh well.

Thanks again,

Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer,

Yes, it looks as if he never married and had a life on the sea. Cannot find any further references to him. Sorry

I think the address on the WWI Draft Registration Card might be 1 1/2 Lewis St., Boston, Mass.  Also, Joseph Snook is listed as his cousin.  James is described as medium height & build with brown hair & brown eyes.
