Henrietta Emily Kelcey (1862 - 1939)

I am trying and failing to find Henrietta Emily Kelcey prior to her marriage to Samuel Lintott in 1883.

She is registered as being born in the Romford registration district in 1862, married in Horsham district and then after the birth of her 2 eldest children - Samuel Henry/Henry Samuel and Emily May moved up to Buxton, Derbyshire where they had 3 more.

I've got her post-marriage on all census, but nothing before she marries Mr Lintott.

Any assistance gratefully received !

No, I don't.  She's only just turned up in my research today, but it was the blank I had drawn in 1871 and 1881 just looking for her now that I was trying to resolve without having to get the certificate!

Freebmd is not showing any marriages for the Kelcey surname in Essex prior to her birth but there are 6 male Kelcey marriages in other areas between 1850-1862

I wonder if she was illegitimate

The marriage is on the IGI Beta website and her fathers name is shown as Henry

Marriage was 31.10.1883 and Samuel's father was also Samuel

Its always possible !

I don't think that she was married before Mr Lintott unless she married very young, even then though if she was illegitimate, I don't think that solves the census issue, unless she took a stepfather's name or the like.

Edit: thanks for the pilot info....will see what that brings. Samuel & his father Samuel were no trouble, they turned up easily

That's great Cathy - thanks.  Age is a little off, but she hasn't really got a common name!  Steyning fits as they were around Sussex for a time.
