Elizabeth Harrison b1820 Roston
« on: Monday 06 December 10 14:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help with information on an Elizabeth Harrison born about 1820 in Roston Derbyshire. She died in 1908. I have a photo of her gravestone in St Barlok`s churchyard in Norbury Derbyshire
She married Edward Roe in 1840 in Norbury and Roston.. They were my 3 x great grandparents. I am particularly interested in finding her parents or any siblings.
Many thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

The name Harrison also appears on the Memorial Inscriptions of St. Mary & St. Barlok:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/DARG/NorburyMIs.html

I've searched for a baptism for Elizabeth but the nearest I can find is from https://beta.familysearch.org/ and she would have been about 4 years old, which isn't unheard of but doesn't prove anything!

Elizabeth Harrison bapt 8 Aug 1824 Norbury & Roston Derby parents: John & Mary Harrison

Two possible siblings were having children in Norbury & Roston around the time Elizabeth married so were probably of a similar age to her:

Elizabeth Harrison bpt 4 Oct 1840 Norbury & Roston, Derby
parents William Harrison, Margaret

Elizabeth Harrison daughter of James & Ann Harrison bpt 13 Apr 1841 Norbury & Roston

There are other Harrisons on the Beta site and maybe if you have any additional information you will be able to do some sort of analysis of them.

Sorry not to be more help.

Hi Jill
Thanks for your help
I`m going to work  on what you have found and see if it fits into what I have found.
Elizabeth Harrison born 1840 is already in my tree as being the sister of my 2 x great grandad David Harrison b 1846.
Elizabeth`s (b 1819) daughter Hannah (b 1841 Norbury) married him so was my 2 x great grandma.
I`m trying to see if there is any connection between the 2 Harrison families and the graves I have found in Norbury and Roston churchyard and eventually track a little further back
Many thanks
Sue
