William Sausby - 59th Regiment of Foot

Hi All

Looking for the surname of the women William Sausby married c1817 in India. All I have is her first  :)name Dorothy ( native women).
I know they had a least 3 children, Ann, Harriet and John. Apparently all born at Fort William, Bengal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tracy

If you have looked for a regimental BMD on sites such as Findmypast there are probably no army records that will help you. One of the Who Do You Think You Are programmes had someone looking for their Anglo-Indian roots. I don't recall which one, and it may have been a repeat from an earlier series, but the gist of it was that they got the information from church records in India.

Someone on the Indian section should be able to help.

Thanks for your help. I hadn't tried Find My Past as previous research with them wasted my money as they didn't have anything remotely related to my family in England. I have posted on Other Countries and see if that answers any questions.
