Elizabeth Bradley from Stourbridge, Stafordshire
« on: Thursday 09 December 10 05:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for information and Decendents of Elizabeth BRADLEY who married Thomas BOWDLER in Decenber 1847 in Stourbridge England. They then emigrated to Queensland with their children in 1862.
I have some information about their family in Australia but I am looking for their relations and information about the family before they emigrated?

Regards.

Hi Terry,

What does her marriage cert say about her father?  :)

Do you have any dates of birth?
Names of children?

Any other clues to help in a search?

I'm guessing it's the couple at HO107/2036 13 19 in Kingswinford in 1851, Elizabeth born ca. 1826 Kingswinford. Very popular name unfortunately - the IGI has a number of possible christenings.  :(

That leads us to this possible family in 1841:

HO107/928/3/19/30

Back of Church Street, Broseley, Wenlock, Shropshire

BRADLEY, Richard  M  45
BRADLEY, Ann        F  45
BRADLEY, Elizth     F  15
BRADLEY, John      M  14
BRADLEY, Mary      F  10
BRADLEY, Richd     M  8
BRADLEY, George  M  6

All born in county.

But there are other possibilities!

Alternatively

1841
HO107/996/7 28 13
Kingswinford, Staffordshire
Common Side

Noad Bradley, 35, Lab
William, 15
Ann, 15
Noah, 10
Elizabeth, 10
Claressia, 5
/
Sarah Crockett, 50
Thomas Crockett, 20

All born in county

Come to think of it, 10 is a little young, isn't it?

Her christening was 12 Oct 1828 Kingswinford, so indeed she would have been 12. 'Our' Elizabeth was 25 in 1851, 34 in 1861.

Just a bit young!

I was looking for 14-15 year old Elizabeths - also allowing for the irksome habit of rounding down ages in 1841.

All the ones I can find seem to be a good few miles away from Kingswinford, though.

Noah was christened January 1827 and he's down as 10 as well - I think the enumerator misunderstood the instructions ...

Anyway Terry, I think you need the 1847 marriage cert  :-\

Hello Tati.

Her fathers name was Thomas and her mother Phoebe Robotham.
They married in Kingswinford in 1824.
I have Elizabeth and Thomas Bowdler marriage cert of 1847.
I dont know if she had any brothers or sisters.
I hope so.
