Could you have a look at those two censuses that I've referred to, please. See what you think.  Because if the Llans? birthplace is Llansawel then it might be him as it's just south of Rhydcymerau

Looks like Carmarthen, Llansamlet (but Llansamlet is actually Glamorgan)

David had three brothers - Morgan (my grandfather) 1865 - 1943 b Rhycynerau d. Lampeter, Joseph d 1946 and John. He had two sisters Eleanor and Jane

I've been trying to find Hugh' s grandfather on the 1871 but so far nothing promising 

Think it's time to close my eyes!

I know the feeling 

it's like looking for the proverbial needle for David Morgan in Wales. We don't even know when he became a Minister so he may not be on census with that occupation. I found another in Llandilotalybont in 1901...born in right sort of area.

Probably need to try to trace Morgan's family first and then work forwards.

I agree with Morganllan re: the 1891 entry - here it is in case anybody can help - definitely Carmarthen.  The 1901 PRO index shows the birthplace for that entry as Mon Llansaintfraidd - he was living in Montgomery

What about this in 1871 Llandilofawr (Talley), surname Morgans - right family names but wrong father's name and he looks a bit old! David, Jane, Eleanor, and Morgan all there, and Morgan is the right age

Which brings me back to my previous question

Back to basics.  Where did the info come from that their father was Morgan Morgan?  Was it from a marriage cert or a birth cert?
