My family tree has hit a wall on John Taylor and Mary. I have found them at Colesville Road on the 1861 census for Atherstone and the children are Sarah Ann (2) and Samuel (10 months). John is aged 24 and Mary 31. I cannot find their marriage and hence their births, please can anyone help?? I have found them also on the 1871 census each time they state they are from Bentley, Warwickshire.

Hi Rhillip,

The birth cert for one of the children would show Mary's maiden name. In the meantime, I had a look for Bentley on Genuki and found out that Bentley was part of Shustoke.

There seems to be only one John Taylor of the right age there in 1841:

1841
HO107/1127 22 5 5
Shustoke, Warwickshire
Bentley

Isaac Taylor, 30, Lab
Elizabeth, 30
Hannah, 12
Sarah, 10
Mary, 8
John, 4
David Blower, 75, Lab

All born Warwickshire
