hi Beth  :)

if jane is not with the family on the 1861 census then i suspect she may have
died  :'(

SP index has -

jane watt death 1860 marnoch banff , born 1859 +/- 1 year

unless you have other evidence of her living ?

Hi Ev

thanks for responding.
She went on to have an illegitimate daughter Ann Eliza Henderson Watt with Duff Henderson.. I dont think they married as he went on to marry a Barbara Shearer. Ann was born in 1878

thanks
B. :)

Wondering how much further you've taken Jane's ancestry. I have an Elspet Kelman in my tree. Maiden name Allan with a previous marriage to John Adamson. My ancestor was their daughter Margaret.

Hence, if Elspet Kelman's maiden name was Allan, she is clearly not the one married to Robert Watt, because that one's maiden name was Kelman.

Was your ancestor Margaret's surname Kelman or Adamson, and where and when was she born?

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Margaret Adamson was born Mar 14 1831 in Keith, Banffshire.
The only child of John Adamson & Elspet Allan.

Margaret married William Young around 1850 and they had a son.
Margaret's second husband was John McLeod also of Keith and they had 7 children.
