William Fewell & Jemima Wallis
« on: Friday 24 December 10 22:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Found the following marriage the other day in Little Bardfield PR fiche.

William Fewell of Finchingfield and Jemima Wallis of Lt Bardfield were married 27 Dec 1791 by banns,  the fathers of the bride and groom were not named and the couple did not sign their names.

The witness was Francis Beal, who witnessed quite a few marriages.

If anyone has an interest in that couple it would be advisable to get a second opinion, whilst I'm pretty sure Williams surname is Fewell I can't be 100% sure.

Merry Xmas to all.

Concentrating currently on:
Essex: Card, Harris, Stowell, Theobald/Tibbles & Turner.
Norfolk: Beale, Cork & Dalton.
Yorkshire: Oswald Sturdy birth/baptism c1708, Oswald where the devil are you?

I would suspect that it is actually SEWELL, not Fewell - in the old fashioned writing, an S looked much like our present day F.

Hi Corinne,

You could well be right but when looking at his name where it appears lower down in the entry, ie William ?ewell his mark, it looks to me more like an F, I'm just glad I'm not looking for a William Fewell in that time frame or area  ;D

I will check it again ,have a look at the F in Francis and and look on the fiche for say a Smith and another name beginning with an F written by the same person.

Regards
