The Third annual ploughing match took place at Mr. Amon's estate, on Tuesday, the 15th instant.
The day was sunny, calm, and pleasant, and the assemblage of spectators large. A number of ladies also honoured and enlivend
the field with their presence. At half-past nine o'clock nine ploughs entered and a ten the word was given to start. At
half-past two all the work being completed, the Judges ( Messrs. James Amos of Gala Mill, and James Amos of Cranbrook)
arrived, and proceeded to inspect the ploughing.
The Committee requested John Meredith, Esq., to present the prizes to the men, which the Judge awarded as follows :-

There were only ten competitors, and all amateurs, consequently numbers of birds returned home. The day also was extremely boisterous and unfavorable, or no doubt better results would have been obtained.

Richard Skeggs killed 1; ~ and when concluded all present adjourned to the Pier Hotel, where the prizes were distributed by Edward Carr Shaw, Esq., who accompanied each with a few appropriate remarks.
