Dalswinton Mill
« on: Thursday 30 December 10 20:04 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for any information about Dalswinton Mill pre 1900. Pictures of the grain mill in the 1800's would be great if there are any available.

I have visited it over recent years, so I have recent pictures, but would like to get any recorded info & pictures in the 1800's.

The grain miller was William Barbour from at least 1851 to 1881. He moved up the road a few hundred yards to Boghall Farm some time before 1891 until 1902.

Hi and thanks again for the info.

WILLIAM BARBOUR BORN 1824 AND DIED ON 13.05.1902 AT LOW TOWNHEAD KIRKMAHOE AND IS BURIED AT KIRKMAHOE CEMETERY.
HIS WIFE WAS  JANE COULTER
I HAVE PHOTO OF HEADSTONE

I actually have this information and photographs of William and Jane's headstone, which I took in October 2007. Again, I really appreciate the info.

HIS SON WILLIAM BARBOUR WAS MARRIED TO JANET MONTEITH AND THEY ARE ALSO BURIED THERE.

I didn't get the opportunity to see William and Janet's headstone, but I'll look out for it on my next trip to the area. Thank you.

WILLIAM BARBOUR BORN 1824 AT GLENCAIRN IS MY 2ND GREAT GRANDFATHER

He's also my 2nd great grandfather.  :)
