Richard Hughes Census 1871
« on: Friday 15 April 05 06:56 BST (UK) »
Hi again,
I am looking for Richard & Ann Hughes who raised my grandmother but Richard did not seem to acknowledge any relationship to her. They would be 25 and 24 in 1871

born Daisy Helen White 12th. February 1880, 117 Vicarage Road Aston Manor. I am told this was an itinerant area
Reg.11th.March 1880 District Aston, sub-district  ERDINGTON,  Warwicks. Daughter of Agnes White, no occupation, father probably a William MacIntyre.
In 1881 Census down as Dasey White
Lived with Richard & Ann Hughes at 106 Wood St. Willenhall in 1881 aged 1 "no relation".
Lived above in 1891 as boarder aged 11
Many thanks
 Val

Hi

In 1871 Richard and Ann Hughes were boarders living with a family in Willenhall headed by an Enoch Cooper. they are not Ann's family as she was born in Derbyshire and all of this family and Richard come from Willenhall.

Ref:
RG10/2944

If you want more info. just ask

Hi Wendy,
Many thanks for that information. May I have full details of the household please.
Knowing they were married in 1871 makes my search for their marriage easier. Although I don't think Ann's maiden name was White or that Agnes was any relation to her.
Where in Staffs do your families originate? I have a few parish records on microfiche for the Wolverhampton districts and would be happy to do a look up for you.
Thanks again Val

Hi

Here is the household everyone except Ann is born in Willenhall:

Enoch Cooper....1843...Head
Emma Cooper....1847...Wife
Emma Cooper...1867....Dau.
Albert Cooper....1869.....Son
Richard Huges...1845....Boarder
Ann Huges.....1847.....Boarder

The residence is on Wolverhampton Rd, (no number). Richard was put down as a lodger and that was crossed out and replaced with boarder, I'm not sure what the distinction is? Both men have the same occupation which is some sort of 'Smith' I can't make out the words, it is definatley not blacksmith or ironsmith but could be something like Milsmith?

Could the Cooper's be related to Richard, Emma is the age to be his sister.

I actually don't have a lot of family from Staffs. There were 3 members born in Cannock in the 1880's while the family was transitioning from Sal. to Lancs, thanks. Anymore you you need looking up and I'm happy.

Cheers
Wendy
