Welcome to Rootschat. When you say "trying to trace my grandfather..." do mean you want to find out about his children or trace the family father back (his parents, etc.)?

The only real information I know is that he was married in 1926 in Dorset, and he was 26 and that he was born in Ireland, and his name was James.
From that I and a very helpful lady have found James, Graham born 1900 in Portadown Co. Armagh so I am trying to see if anyone else is looking at these families to go back a few generations, in order to see if the information I have ties in anywhere.  I have a fair amount of info on the Dorset side, but nothing definite on the Armagh side.

So you are really wanting to find out about James' life in Ireland and hopefully find his relatives here.
What's the name and occupation of James' father (should be on his marriage certificate)?

There's one possible James Graham born c1900 living in Co. Armagh in 1901 census but father isn't at home-

This might be the same family in 1911-

Hi
Thank you both, Yes the one on the 1901 and 1911 census I believe to be him. His father was called Alexander, both were Labourers.  Although On the marriage certificate of James Jnr 1926 his father was already decd, and occupation was foreman in a bacon factory.  I have written to the bacon factory in Obins lane to see if they have any old records.
James has a brother called Joseph, who was born in 1907.
There is not much more I know.

I do have some research on the Gillis Family, but unsure if I am on  the right track.  How did he end up in Dorset in 1926?

What was his occupation in 1926 when he got married? (might give a clue as to why he came to England)

On the marriage cert, James jnr he was in the royal tanks corps, and James Snr was a foreman in a bacon factory, but was decd on the marriage cert in 1926.  I believe James snr died in 1915, if it is the right one I have found.
