« on: Tuesday 11 January 11 08:03 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information on William Wearn or Wearne who was born in Redruth in 1820s and worked as a miner in 1860s. Looking for who his parents where and where he died. Also any information on his wife Caroline Roberts would be very helpful. Thanks  :)

Hi Jodiawoody ,

A Big Welcome to RootsChat.  ;D

You will find Cornwall Census is available Free Online

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,144624.0.html

You will find William is in Illogan with his family in 1841 (Parents Benjiman and Mary WEARNE) William is listed as aged 15 but adult ages (those aged 15 years and over) were rounded down if the enumerator followed his instructions therefore a person born in 1822-1826 would be listed as aged 15 in this census. Although in this case the other members have not been rounded down.  :-\

Hi Jodiawoody

I am a descendant of William & Caroline nee Roberts WEARNE .  Their daughter Frances Roberts Wearne was my Gt Gt Grandmother.
Caroline Wearne died 18th Oct 1862 Blowing House Illogan from Postpartum Haemorrhage.
The 1841 census has a Caroline Roberts living at Illogan Highway with the Merrit family, John Roberts & a William Sincock.
There is a William Wearne who died aged 46yrs  Sept qtr 1871  Redruth  5/161 which may be him as he was listed as deceased on Frances marriage certificate (in 1876) & he was living at Blowing House, Illogan in the 1871 census.

Benjamin Wearne married Mary Tucker - 25 July 1815 Wendron.
2nd Marriage to Keturah Greenslade on the 5 Aug 1846 Redruth.
Benjamin b 1796 died 1 Jan 1855 of Bronchitis,  aged 59 yrs, Redruth.
Mary  b 1796 Helston, died 25 Feb 1845 Illogan.

Hope this helps in some way.
Cheers Sue

Thankyou all for your amazing help! I am currently putting together a family tree for my grandmother and your information has been so valuable.

Wow Sue, that's great! Benjamin Wearne (Frances' brother) was my great great grandfather.

Thanks so much for your time and effort. What a great site.
