Hi Folks,

For all ye fellow doonhammers out there, this link may be of interest to you:

http://www.archive.org/stream/memorialsstmich00mdogoog#page/n10/mode/1up

I used to visit this particular churchyard during the course of my early days of research.  I have only recently found this online digitised book containing amazing data that should be useful to people researching their dumfriesshire ancestors.

The opening few pages captures the imagination and keeps you gripped !

Can you find any of your ancestors?

Have look at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dfsgal
There you will find short photo tours of many graveyards in Dumfries & Galloway.
You will find St Michaels (Old and New), Dumfries High, St Mary's and Troqueer graveyards all linked under Dumfries.  While these are all partial surveys you will find many closeup photos of interesting gravestones.
The photos are all mine so copyright problems are not an issue for fellow amateurs who want to use any for there own genealogical records.

Just looked at your pictures and found 2 that relate to my Maxwell Tree. Excellent work and lovely pictures. Thank you and I hope other people enjoy, and find, family gravestones.
