Apparently Fuel Road was in St Thomas area of Swansea  :)

There was a Golden Row in the Landore area of Swansea, which I can find on 1911, but no Golden Terrace  :-\  Also found Gordon Terrace on 1911.

Hello  :)
I'm not an expert on Swansea history but here are a few points which may help

Slaters Commercial Directory 1858-1859 - Swansea entry mentions Fuel Inn on New Cut.

New Cut has bridges to cross the river; some pictures on this site:
http://www.swanseadocks.co.uk/North%20Dock%20&%20New%20Cut.htm

The New cut was a channel cut to divert the River Tawe in 1851. There was a patent fuel works on an island between the New cut and the North Dock, which would have been there in your Grandfather's Day. I suspect that Fuel Road was in this area.

Furrier's Swansea Directory 1913-4:
"Swansea is the centre of the anthracite coal district.
There are more Patent Fuel Works in Swansea than at any other port in
the Kingdom ; and the fuel is held in high repute in Continental and other
markets. There is a large area of land available for fuel works, creosote
works, saw mills and other commercial purposes. Lines of Steamers run
between Swansea and the following ports, viz. : New York, Baltimore,
Philadelphia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Yokohama, Nagaski, Hiogo, Java ports,
Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Rosario, Monte Video, Buenos Ayres, Ports in Chili
and Peru, St. Petersburg, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp,
Treport, Rouen, Nantes, Bordeaux, Oporto, Lisbon, Setubal, Barcelona,
'Genoa,, Leghorn, Venice, Trieste, Fiume, ports in Greece, Constantinople and
other Turkish ports, Galatz, Ibrail, Odessa, Batoum, Alexandria, &c."

More Swansea info here:
http://www.1911encyclopedia.org/Swansea

There was a Fuel Inn on Fuel Road in 19th Century and Fuel Inn is mentioned on Pentreguinea Rd in 20th Century but I don't know if it was the same place.

Best wishes
Morgan

You're welcome  :D

Have you found your Grandmother on 1901 or 1911 census at that address? Unfortunately we can only help with 1901 at present but if you post her details here perhaps we can find her.

modified - I've just found a Golden Terrace but in Llangynwyd, Maesteg... I'll keep looking.

Golden Row was in St Pauls Landore, Swansea.
Gordon Terrace was in St Mary's Parish, part of Victoria Ward, Swansea Town.

Perhaps the registrar heard "Golden" for "Gordon"?

Kind regards
Morgan
