Old Man of Hoy Distillery
« on: Friday 14 January 11 08:42 GMT (UK) »
A good new year to you all.
I am seeking information on The Old Man of Hoy Distillery at
Stromness.  Now, no longer in existence, it was willed to a John
Sinclair from his uncle John Sinclair, and it was run with
Roderick and Duncan Macpherson, who were sisters of Janet
Sinclair (mother of distillery owner)
The library in Stromness was most helpful, and I now wish to
try to locate any photos (copies of course) of this establishment
and of the workers there. Also contact with any Sinclair or
Macpherson descendants would be a bonus.
Betsy Mackay, who lived with the above, was the grandmother of
my Mackay brother in law in Somerset, who also has connections
with Durness.
Grateful for any help.
THank you.
