Hi I'm trying to track down any information at all on my great great grandmother Agnes, maiden name CALDER.  She married 3 times.Don't know where she was born as we have been unable to trace any other information on her

1st marriage    WRIGHT date unknown

2nd marriage   KAISER to William 1907 Lambeth London, 
we have information on my grans birth certificate, Violet KAISER born 26/09/1909 that he was deceased early 1909, possibly March. William is noted on my grans wedding certificate as having been an engineer. At time of my gran's birth AGNES was living at Johnston Terrace Edinburgh

3rd marriage  GIBSON - no other information know

I know my gran Violet has step brothers and sisters but dont know how many and what happened to them all

My Gran Violet married in 1940 to Gilbert McCulloch DOB 13/08/2011 (now deceased)  from Linwood, Mains Farm, family are noted as once living at Mainshaw farm Ayr. When they were married my gggran Agnes is noted as being deceased on the marriage certificate.


Any information would be greatly appreciated as we are really struggling to get any further.
If anyone has any information on the McCullochs Mainshaw farm this would be helpful too. we have managed to find quite a bit information on them so far but not sure where they came from originally. We have most of them noted as originating from Maybole/Straiton so far.

Have you managed to find on record any of Agnes' marriages? Not sure about this, was Violet, your gran, born in Edinburgh in 1909. If so, what did it say about the marriage date for Agnes and William Kaiser? Was there a specific date that would help you find the marriage to be able to confirm at least Agnes' father's name?

Have the date Agnes married William Kaiser, my gran Violet's birth certificate states 22nd December 1907 as date of marriage in Lambeth but unable to track a marriage certificate to date.

Unable to find any of the other marriage details, dont know where she resided at those times.

Not seeing any deaths for Agnes with the names Calder/Gibson or Calder/Wright or Calder/K*s*r on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk between 1909-40 which is a pity, but you have likely checked for this already 

Regarding marriages, checking for a Calder and Gibson marriage between 1909-40 brings up the following, all with bride showing as Annie (I left the bride's first name blank. Ann is a common variant of Agnes in Scotland, so still possible):

Annie Calder and George Wilson, 1920 in St Giles, Edinburgh
Annie Calder and George Wilson, 1920 in Glencorse, Midlothian
Annie Calder and James Young Gibson, 1911 in Hillhead, Glasgow

The other two marriage entries show a Mary Ann and a Margaret.

But given the lack of possible death entries between 1909-40, not sure at all on these marriages.

We have checked all the available sites we can think of and still a brick wall

I didnt realise Ann was a variant for Agnes so thats helpful

The 1911 census is only weeks away now. SP have announced a date of 27 March for its release. This may give you the first real clues on Agnes assuming Violet lived with her at the time. Or maybe Violet may have been with extended family which will also give you clues.
