Hi Peramar,

I just can't thank you enough. That is the piece of the jigsaw I have been searching for to continue my research.

I do hope that you haven't had to go to too much trouble on my behalf but it is so appreciated as I now live in N. Yks and not Doncaster.

Many many thanks again

Julie

Hi Julie

I am glad to have been of some assistance.  It is no trouble as I am in the Doncaster FHS research room most weeks.  I found the information on a microfiche copy of the original parish records.

Cumberland, Fletcher, Storey,
Beverley, Swaby, Cope
Barnsley, Harper, Rushforth. Barker, Foundhere, Gelder, Headen.

That is VERY interesting! So perhaps the Mary Wood in Doncaster Workhouse with the Matilda and other children isn't our Matilda's mother.

Thanks!

The strange thing is that after all this, Matilda just seems to disappear. I have the proof that she married George edward Caddick and that in 1871 they lived in Doncaster. George is then found in 1881 at his brother John's house in Birmingham (i have prrof that this is the case) and is classed as unmarried but there is no clear ref. to Matilda at all - death / re-marriage or living elsewhere. Oh well, the plot thickens!

Thanks for all your help
Julie

Looks like he is either back with Ann in 1871 or has re-married to a different Ann
