I'm hoping that someone can help find out what became of the above named lady after 1932?
Alice Mary BINDING was, according to her birth certificate, born in Barton Regis Workhouse, Bristol, on 24 June 1896. Mother was Selina BINDING, single woman, a domestic servant. Her father was not named but there is very little doubt he was (Charles) James SPRY aka SPRY-PALMER, a travelling actor/musician.
In 1901 Alice was in Horfield, Bristol, listed as Mary A, and being cared for along with several other children by an Amy Hoare. Mother Selina was working as a servant fairly nearby in St Michael, Bristol.
In 1911 I believe I have Alice in Chorley Wood, Hertfordshire, working as a general domestic servant. Selina has not yet been found in 1911 but I believe her to have been in London.
31st August 1916, Charles James Spry PALMER and Selina BINDING were married in St Pancras Register Office. He stated he was a widower (but in fact I believe he had a wife living in New Zealand).
In 1932 Alice was informant on her mother's death certificate and signed herself A.M. SPRY-PALMER. Her father James died in 1924, and both parents died in Pancras Registration District.
I can find no further trace of her after 1932 in the BMD indexes. Her mother Selina was my great-grandmother's sister, and as far as I know there was no family contact with Alice, who was known to the family as 'May' after 1932.
Can anyone suggest a next step? She would have been a 36 in 1932, and apparently unmarried at that time.
