Winchester St Maurice, 1824 marriage - COMPLETED with thanks
« on: Thursday 20 January 11 09:22 GMT (UK) »
I'm seeking any more information on this marriage:

16 Aug 1824 Thomas Bailey to Ellen Gasser/Gofsier (varies on transcriptions).

It is on the IGI, FreeReg and the new version of Familysearch, but no other details are listed. I understand that will probably be just the names of witnesses and perhaps parish of residence.

Any details appreciated - thanks.

Both parties were of the parish.  Thomas BAILEY signed the register but Ellen GASSER made her mark.  Witnesses were James GASSER and Sarah SLAUGHTER.

The first 's' in the GASSER surname is elongated and I am confident it should be read as GASSER.

Dee-jay, many thanks indeed for doing this  ;D

Thanks for all the details and confirming the name - I'd suspected the old-style double "s" that looked like "fs" with a long-tailed "f" might be the case, so thanks for that.
