We might be able to get you information or suggest where to search if you could put names and dates in your post.

There were/are a lot of Neelys in area between Garvagh and Swatragh. A Thomas Neely married (1898 Co.Derry) to Ruth McCahon but I have no way of knowing if this is your family or if you already have the information.

Thanks for that, pretty new to this game!
Thomas and Ruth would have been my great grandparents, they had 6 children, George, Robert, Thomas, Alexander (grandfather), William and James. My grandfather married Jane Loughrey in 1927 and had 7 children, Alexander (b.XXXX), Thomas (b.XXXX) (my father), James, Anne,Jeannie, Robert and Gerald.
If any of this links in with anyone's search I would love to hear.

Thomas Neely, Laragh, son of George Neely, and Ruth McCahon, Ballylame, daughter of Alexander McCahon. Have full details of wedding and information on both families. If you send me a PM (personal message) with an email address I'll be able to send you lots of information.

I am related to Oliver Neely son of John Neely & Margaret Jane Boyd, Bishops St Londonderry. Oliver married Lizzie Fraser in St Columbs before moving to Glasgow.

He also had at least two brothers John & James who also moved to Glasgow as well as at least 2 sisters Margaret & Sarah.

Ramsay, Struthers, Stark (Avondale, Lanarkshire) Haughey, Martin (Ballyrashane) Neely, Fraser (Londonderry) Hill (Anderston, Glasgow), Cranstoun, Carruthers (Dumfries) MacIndoe (Springburn & Bridgeton, Glasgow) McKay (Springburn, Glasgow) Fraser (Paisley)

Neely is a very common Co. Derry name. I also have Neely ancestors not related to either Oliver Neeely in Derry or Neelys of Laragh (although those are losely connected to me in several ways by marriage).

GG Grandfather was George Neely (farmer Laragh) who I believe was born in 1838, he was father to Thomas Neely, born 1863, who married Ruth McCahon in 1898. Have been trying to find out about George's wife or his own family. There is a record of a George Neely marrying Mary Ann Neely in 1861, she was the third daughter of another George Neely but unsure if this is the right person.

I appreciate there were many Neely families in the area but the fact that they are marrying each other is causing confusion!
