Jones 1901 /1911 Census Look up
« on: Saturday 22 January 11 13:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I was wondering whether someone could try to find John Jones and his family on the Ferndale/Meardy Census for 1901 /1911.
He was born In Pennal Merionithshire in 1875. Married to Margaret ( not dure of birth year or place of birth but think it must be North Wales possibly Denbeighshire). He was a miner. They had one child in 1902 callled Richard.
Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry but 1911 census requests are not allowed - please see here:

The index is free to search and there are lots of suggestions on this thread:

Hi Mort29, The last time I found John Jones on the census was in 1881 in Pennal Merionithshire aged 6 living with his parents Owen and Mary Jones (40 Pennal village). I know he moved to the Rhondda valley as a miner at the beginning of the 1900's.
Thanks

Theres a John 'Rich' Jones c1875, born PENAL, Merionthshire, boarding in the PontyPridd District in the 1901 census - didnt make a note of the Census ref - can you find it from that detail ?

Wondered if it linked to the 1902 Richard - did he survive till 1911 btw?

Couldnt see an obvious marriage to a Margaret tho

Dear Mort29,
That's very helpful and kind of you. Thanks so much. Richard was John Nd margaret's first son so i suppose they chose his middle name and Richard was always known as Richie by the family ! Thanks again for your help

Reference for John Rich Jones at Ferndale in 1901 is RG13 Piece 5020 Folio 168 Page 14

The last time I found John Jones on the census was in 1881 in Pennal Merionithshire aged 6 living with his parents Owen and Mary Jones (40 Pennal village).

I believe this is 1891 Reference in case you need it:
RG12 Piece 4587 Folio 7 Page 7

Kind Regards

Hi Morganllan,
I have been doing a bit more research and it appears that John Jones was given the name Richard as a middle name when he started school to differentiate him from other John Jones's in the class. Thanks so much for your helpful information again. I have now traced a son Richard who married a Vera . Thanks again for you r help
