Breton nobility c 1000 - 1200

I'd be grateful if anyone knew of a site which could give accurate information and lineages on the above. The ones I've seen tend to be contradictory .

Hi

My husband is Breton and I am helping him research his ancestors - all from Brittany.

I have access to a French genealogy site - if you can give me any names and dates, I will see what comes up.

Otherwise, putting the name into Google Books, but searching only French books, could help.

Thank you - the people I'm interested in are the ancestors of 'Herve ll De Leon' 1100 -1169 , who married a descendant of William the Conqueror. I've seen two contradictory versions, and wondered whether there was a 'defnitive' one.

Before I start sending you any information - a quick question - how good is your French?
 ;)

I can read it quite easily - my wife is Breton (Hence the interest) , and we speak some French at home.
I think I'd call my reading 'good' .

I found this http://www.tudchentil.org/IMG/pdf/Genealogie_des_Herve_de_Leon_vers_1180_-_1363_.pdf

I also found this on Geneanet :

Even DE LÉON ca 945 & ? ?
o Hamon DE LÉON ca 970 & ? ?
o Morvan II DE LÉON ca 995 & N DE COEZOU ca 1000
o Alain DE LÉON ca 1020 & ? ?
o Guyomarch II DE LÉON ca 1045-1103 & Orwen DE CORNOUAILLES ca 1045
o Emma DE LÉON ca 1065-ca 1092 & Eudon Ier DE PORHOET ca 1055-1108
...
o Hervé Ier DE LÉON ca 1070-1096/ & ? ?
o Guyomarch III DE LÉON ca 1090-1157 & ? ?
o Hervé II DE LÉON ca 1110-1169 & N D'AUMALE ca 1115

The tree actually goes back to  Ordoño II DE LÉON ca 875-924 &895 Elvire Menendez DE COIMBRA ca 880-921

Does this fit in with what you already know?

This is the link http://gw0.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=aurejac&lang=fr&m=N&v=DE%20L%C3%89ON    but I not sure whether you have to be a member of Geneanet to access.

There are  nearly 1700 family trees for de Leon covering the period from 900 to 1100 on Geneanet.......... the problem is - as you have found - which tree is accurate? (I have the same problem with my Cliffords).

The link I sent is quite interesting.  There are quite a few references to Hervé de Leon on Google Books, in French - might be worth giving it a go.

I will keep digging and see what turns up.
