Tetsworth marriage look up GREEN *COMPLETED*
« on: Thursday 27 January 11 08:20 GMT (UK) »
Is there anyone with access to the Tetsworth marriage records?
I would be very grateful for a look up for the marriage of William BALL & Mary GREEN in 1835

The marriage banns were read in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire -
19 April 1835, William BALL of this parish & Mary GREEN of Tetsworth, Oxon.

In all the censuses 1851-1881 Mary names her place of birth as Tetsworth. Would also love a christening date & parents if thats not too much to ask. Should be c.1812

Many thanks,
Kevin Scott

It's always worth seeing what transcription the local Family History Society has done.  In this case Oxfordshire FHS www.ofhs.org.uk has transcribed the parish registers of Oxfordshire, including Tetsworth.  You might find this map useful - http://searches.oxfordshirefhs.org.uk/pardata.html

Courtesy of OFHS, here is the marriage from CD TH01:

1835 Apr 20 BALL William bach Long Crendon, Bucks
GREEN Mary spin --
Wits: Harriett BROOKS, William BUSHNELL

Quote

In all the censuses 1851-1881 Mary names her place of birth as Tetsworth. Would also love a christening date & parents if thats not too much to ask. Should be c.1812

again, from the OFHS transcription;

1811 Dec 1 GREEN Mary William & Elizabeth

There are enough prior events in the family to warrant purchase of the CD.

Thats wonderful, thank you Wendy for such a quick response.

This is my first trip into Oxfordshire in search of my wife's family who mostly originate in Bucks. I have just bought some of the CDs from the BUCKS FHS which have proved excellent.

Much of my own research is in Suffolk and I have most CDs from the Suffolk FHS if anyone ever needs a look up.

Best wishes,
Kevin

If you ever get over to Oxfordshire, Tetsworth church stands very visible, with a distinctive spire, as you go down the M40.  Have a look at John Ward's excellent photos, including the font -
