Susan Ward was my Grandfathers older sister. I have found information about his (Herbert Harry Ward b.1874 Stanground) other siblings and family but after 1881 census when Susan was 10 yrs old and lived at home with her family at Water End Stanground she disappears completely! Through Ancestry I have searched through the census' for 1891 in Stanground and Peterborough and altered various information but cannot find her again, or marriage or death. ALso used Freebmd and family search. I think its time to give up on her but thought Id just ask some more experienced people if Ive done all I can via my PC?

Hello,
Is she not Elizabeth aged 20 yrs in 1891? Perhaps she didn't like being called Susan.

I am a distant cousin of Susan but have failed to find any trace of her after 1881. I even searched on her third name, Askew, but no luck.
Elizabeth in 1891 is a different person, her father being from Norfolk.

David

Hello David,
Apologies
I had father Henry and daughter Elizabaeth aged 20 yrs b Stanground, but now realise that the rest of the family is different.
I should have scrolled down the page a bit further.

Hi I thought Id update this question as I might have some further information which should help me but I am still hitting brick walls so thought Id throw it out there again!
Recently sent for Susan's younger brother Artemus Ward b.1875 Stanground death certificate. It is not easy to read but he died aged 15 on 22 August 1894. He was an apprentice boat builder and died of a fever. The informant name is not very clear but it defiantely says "......... Pepper, Sister. Present at the death. Stanground" Now the first part of the name could read "Sus - an" or "Mrs ..." But as his others sister seem to be accounted for and I know their married names could this be Susan? Have just spent the last few days trawling through the censuses and marriage regs but still no help. There is even a Susan Pepper living in Stanground next door to one of his sisters in 1891 census but she is 10 years too old and marriage records shows she was Susan Ann Berridge.
So if anyone who reads this and can throw any light on Susan Ward possibly Susan Pepper and why she doesnt show up on any records or if anyone with access to marriage records in Stanground or Peterbrough before 1894 can find a record of a marriage. Would be much appreciated!
Thank you.

Mary Ann Ward and James Pepper are on the same page in Dec 1892 in Peterborough reg district, and they appear to be living in Fletton in 1901.

Yes there was a marriage for James Pepper and Mary Ann Ward in 1892. Cant find them in 1911. So based on the information in 1901 none of her details match - why would she change her name on marriage reg and census from Susan Elizabeth to Mary Ann and her dob and place of birth dont match? There are 2 Mary Ann - Dunmore and Berridge - who married Tom Pepper as well!

Did Artemus Ward have a sister Mary Ann is what I was wondering as you can't make out the informant's first name
