1841 census in Washington
« on: Sunday 17 April 05 07:53 BST (UK) »
Here is a real puzzler. I know they were there it's just the surname that kept getting confused.

It could be MUSCHIAN as in 1851 census, or MUSTCHIN, or a variant of either.

Joseph was born 1794 in Storrington
Elizabeth nee BOTTING born 1800 in West Grinstead.

Children:
Charles Walter, born 1821 in Washington
James, born 1824 in Washington
Henry born 1826 in Washington
Mary born 1829 in Washington
Joseph born 1832 in Washington
Elizabeth born 1836 in Washington

Frances MORGAN born 1830 in Washington, parents were Reuben and Hannah MORGAN

Much appreciated

Sandie MUSTCHIN
Australia
Main family interest:
MUSTCHIN in Staffordshire, Surrey, Dorset, Sussex and Kent.
Variations of surname include MUSTION, MUSTIAN and MUSTYAN.

Hi Sandie,

I couldn't find them in 1841 Washington.  I spotted a family with a blurred surname that could have been Muschian or something similar, but the forenames didn't match (except in the case of Charles, but aged 56, and Mary whose age was about right).  There were some Botting families, though.  I'll have another look this evening to see if I missed them.
