Madden
« on: Sunday 30 January 11 02:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi, i am looking 4 info on my great great great granda Edward Madden born early 1800s in Belfast and his son, my great great granda William Madden born approx 1847 in.  I know William married  Mary Ann Gallagher in Belfast in 1866 and I have most info from then on.  Am looking 4 earlier info on Edward and William. Edward is listed as a labourer in 1866 and was born approx 1820s - 1830s i think.  Would love some birth info on William and hopefully some info on his mother who was Edward wife. I have a feeling that William may have been born in Armagh and that this could be Edwards area also, but just guesswork.   I know 4 sure that the Madden family moved between Ireland, Belfast and West Derby from early 1800s right up 2 1900 when they returned to Belfast when my granda Madden was just 1 year old.  I hope some one can help me fill in the gaps in my info.  Fingers crossed!

Same query here as in your other new post- do you have the family in any Irish and English census records yet? If you do please let us know as there's no point in us searching for details you've already found. Census records should, hopefully, give names and ages of children as well as their birthplc aes which will make finding other records much easier.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have most if not all English and Irish census records from 1881 in which Bernard Madden is 15.  He was born Thomas Bernard Madden ,Oct 1865, sister Rose 1867, brothers William, 1869 and Edward 1872. Sometime between 1872  and 1881 Bernards family moved 2 West Derby. another 7 siblings recorded. Bernards father William was born approx 1847 in Ireland, Bernards mother Mary Ann Gallagher Jan 1847 Tigallon, Aghagallon, Antrim, Ireland, she was the ninth of 10 children born 2 James Gallagher and Elizabeth Medole/McDowell who married in 1829 Aghagallon - Fergus 1829, Hugh 1831, Sarah 1833, Eliza 1839, James 1840, John 1842, Henry 1844, Rose 1845, Mary Ann 1847 (my Great Great Granny) and Robert 1848.
On Bernards wedding cert Aug 1887  his father William is recorded as a Plasterer of English Street, Belfast.
On Williams wedding cert Jan 1866, his father Edward is recorded as a Labourer of Bow Street, Belfast. Have no sibling or other parental info.
