Moran of New Ross
« on: Monday 31 January 11 00:14 GMT (UK) »
Researching Moran of New Ross.

John Moran married Mary Murphy and lived in Mountgornet Lane.
Had four children, John, Marcella (known as Stella), Nellie and Martin.  Martin left Eire in 1921.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do you have any idea of approximate years of birth for any of your Moran family ?

It might be worth checking the 1911 and or 1901 census returns for Wexford to see if you can see them listed.

see : Introduction to Irish Records

p.s. there's a Mountgarrett Lane listed in New Ross on the census returns -
see : Mountgarrett Lane - 1901, Mount Garrett Lane - 1911

Thanks Shane.  I've looked at the 1911 census for New Ross and there are four John Moran's listed.  I have no idea whether he was the oldest, youngest child or what.  Have sent for Martin's birth certificate to see if I can narrow it down by occupation of the father (assuming the Irish birth certificates are similar to UK).

If this is any help, Mountgornet Lane is also known as Mountgarret Lane.  So try this address when using your serch again.  Also to this day its always been known as Mount Garret Lane.

Welcome to RootsChat, Rich48  :)

I'm Nellie's son. What would you like to know.

Unfortunately the OP (jaccott) hasn't been back since June 2011 but hopefully if their e-mail hasn't changed they will receive a notification of your post, and will hopefully return.

do you have any idea of approximate years of birth for any of your Moran family ? from January 2011

What we would like to know was when the four children were born, and the date of the marriage of John Moran to Mary Murphy. It was never answered by the OP.
