Hello;
       Would anyone have access to newspaers of the Thanet district, Broadstairs for December /January 1994. I am seeking info etc on my mother who died then.Her name was Gwendoline Jean Smith. [I have had no contact since 1954]. I would be very grateful. Regards John

They may have them or, if not, should at least know of their whereabouts - possibly at Margate library if not at Broadstairs.

Not sure how you have got on contacting Broadstairs Library.., but thought I would just say that I was born and bred in Broadstairs - although I now live in Norwich.

Anyway, the purpose of this message is to say that every now and then I visit family in Broadstairs and will try to pop into broadstairs library for you to see what they have - I cant promise that I will be able to find anything, but I will give it a go..

You may have to be patient though coz I'm not due to go down for a week or two - but am quite happy for you to keep in touch for any updates

          Thank you ever so much. I am in Australia so unable to search myself. The exact date of my mother was 26th December 1994. I know she had a partner names francis,but I am interested to see what friends she had etc. I am very grateful. Regards John

So sorry to report that my search didn't find anything.. I searched from 26th December 1994 - end of January 1995 in the obituaries of the local newspapers, but didn't find anything..  - Not everybody has announcements of deaths in the newspapers, so this was always a possibility.

Let me know if there are any other avenues you can think of that I could look for you and I will give it a go next time I am in Broadstairs..

I will continue to keep an eye out for her through my own research.. 

Have you obtained her death certificate? Do you know where she is buried? Maybe I could check out a headstone or memorial?

Really sorry not to have found anything.. it would have given me heaps of pleasure to have been of some assistance

         Thanks so much for going to the trouble to search. I don`t know where she is buried. She died at 70a broadstairs Rd Broadstairs. Is there a cemetary at broadstairs or would it be in a larger town like Margate etc? Thanks John

It would appear that the records for the Ramsgate & Margate cemeteries are with Thanet Crematorium and there is an email address/telephone number so perhaps they can help you:
