« on: Wednesday 02 February 11 23:10 GMT (UK) »
I would really appreciate your help in finding:
ROBERT CLEMMITT, un, born Easington N. yorks C1823 (aged 18)
I have all later census records after his marriage.
I cannot find a birth or baptismal record and therefore do not know his parents names.
With thanks, Charley

What about Robert Clemet b 1826 - ages were rounded down in 1841 so somebody aged 18 would be shown as 15 - birthyear 1826

Surname is Clemet in 1851 and he married as Clemmet

Do you have a copy of his marriage cert showing his fathers name

IGI Beta site shows marriage as 23.12.1848 Danby in Cleveland York https://beta.familysearch.org/

Beat me Carole  :(

If that's him, it isn't much help as he is an Ag Lab on a farm in Whitby and not with his parents.

Charley

His baptism is on the IGI with parents names - haven't you checked there first?

I have searched several times on the IGI and because it was spelt differently it came up with nothing.  But yes, thank you this is correct.  on later census returns he was 28 38 50 57 - really consistent!
I appreciate your help. Charley

I am very impressed that you could find this Jan and very grateful.  Mary Ann should be 22 but ages do change in the writing and transcribing.  This name has changed many times over the years giving me loads of heartache.  I am sure that this census is correct and would love to find other children.  I found a baptism in Nov 1784 in Brotten for a John Clemmitt.  All these villages are in a tiny area near Guisborough.  I can't find the marriage yet for John and Elizabeth not under Clemmitt and all variations.  Do you have the 1841 census as this might come up with something?
Many thanks for your time and results
