Lost Trotter COMPLETED
« on: Friday 04 February 11 12:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have a Charlie Trotter b Jun 1/4 1904 in Huddersfield. Any suggestions on how to find his parents without resorting to sending for a Birth Cert??. He does not appear in 1911 and I cannot find a death. Help.

Thanks Steve

Try searching again on the 1911, he is mistranscribed as Trother in Rotherham

It's a very odd group of 2 families and Charlie's entry doesn't give you any clues as to his relationship with any of them.

I don't think you'll work it out without certificates, I'm afraid.

Hi
It looks like you are right, I checked to see if it was a boarding school or an orphanage for foundlings etc. But with the husband a miner it does not look likely, It looks like it's back to cert's. I can chase the parents then.

Thanks for the help

In 1906 at Huddersfield (Q1 9a 534) there is a possible marriage between a Margaret Trotter and a Charles Power (listed as Pover).

Given that one of the other boarders is a Margaret Power, I suspect that she might be the mother of Charlie Trotter. GF

Working back through the 1901 and 1891 censuses and comparing possible marriages, I think that Charlie Trotter’s parents were probably Johnson Trotter and Margaret Lichfield who might have married in 1898 (Q4 9a 674) at Huddersfield. GF

Possible, relevant, death registration in 1904 at Dewsbury (Q4 9b 434) - Johnson Trotter aged 34. GF
