South African Dentists
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 17:40 GMT (UK) »
Is there such a thing as a Register of Dentists in South Africa? I am looking for my cousin Gladys Ewart Munro, born Hopeman, Moray, Scotland 13th November 1904 daughter of Dr. William Munro and Jessie Isabella Robertson. After qualifying as a Dentist in Edinburgh she emigrated to South Africa on the Arundel Castle leaving Southampton on 22nd February 1930, Port of Disembarkation stated to be Capetown. Soon after arrival it is believed she married fellow Dentist Jan Henrik Roussouw who she had met when he was also studying in Edinburgh. Any information would be very welcome. Alastair MacDonald.

Try contacting the Health Professionals Council of SA, it used to be known as the SA Medical and Dental Council, they may claim confidentiality but may help you.

Hello Phil,
No, I hadn't seen that. Many thanks for drawing my attention to it. One query - the heading at the top of the page gives Gladys Rossouw's dates as 1904 - 1983 but in the inscription on her stone it looks like 1987 as her year of death. Compare the last digit with the "3" in her birth date and they don't look the same to me. What do you think?
Regards, Alastair

I've got to agree with you Alastair.

I've played with the image and it does look very much like a '7'

Regards,
Phil

On Sunday, 6 February 2011 Alastair MacDonald posted an enquiry asking for information about Gladys Ewart Munro, born Hopeman. There were a few replies to the enquiry and then it came to a stop. It so happens that I do have some information on the lady concerned.
It also so happens that I have just registered for RootsChat and that my computer skills are limited. Can someone please tell me what I should do to make contact with Alastair MacDonald? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Piet, you need to make a couple more posts, then you can send a Personal Message (PM) to Alaistair.

By all means, respond to one of my posts with "test".

Dear Meles
Thanks for the advice.
Does this reply to your message count as a post?
And how many is a couple of posts? I seem to remember that I read somewhere on the website that 3 are required.
