1827 letter to J FOLLETT Topsham
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 21:00 GMT (UK) »
I have a cross written letter to John Follett of Topsham Devon. It can be seen on the Deciphering board under: Posting for Kerrenhapuch decipher please. I wondered if anyone was researching the Follett family and may be interested in this letter. I found it many years ago in a box from a sale room. It has no connection to me. I would really like to see it find it's way home.

Hi,

I live in Topsham and at present am doing some research on the Follett family on behalf of Topsham Museum.  John Follett (1806-1866), who I believe wrote the letter in your possession was the brother of William Webb Follett, who was for some time the Attorney General. John was a Timber and Hemp merchant, who lived for some years in Mount Wear House, Countess Wear, Topsham.

I would be delighted to learn the contents of the Follett letter in your possession. If you wish to find a good home for it, Topsham Museum would be pleased to find one (with due attribution to yourself).

Best regards,

Jethro_William

I have several letters from 1810-11 from George Follett to his mother (nee Webb), sister and father in Topsham and Cork.  I can send transcriptions if you are interested.
