DUTTON family / PHILLIPS family connection? pre-1800 Worcestershire
« on: Wednesday 09 February 11 04:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi!

I have an ancestor John Dutton Phillips born 1835 and baptised at St Thomas, Dudley. His father was John Phillips (a gardener/agricultural labourer) [edit: new information] and his mother was Mary (a publican). Census records show them all to be born in Worcestershire.

I am having trouble tracking down more information on John Dutton Phillips' line and it's occurred to me that perhaps the "Dutton" comes from his mother, or either grandmother's name.

Does anyone have any information on a circa/pre1800 link between the Phillips and Dutton families?

Thanks so much!

Jason

For the benefit of future researchers, the mother's name hunch was correct:

John PHILLIPS (c1810-c1840) m. Mary DUTTON (c1800-?) at St Thomas, Dudley, Worcestershire on 28 Aug 1827.
